Technical Difficulties!

So there I was, back at home; I love Ajax! My home in south Ajax is where I lived for the better part of my life; sixteen years! I am twenty three years old and have lived many other places. However, Ontario is my home; I’ve spent my whole life here. Prior to Ajax was Scarborough, before that Whitby and before that North Bay.

Including Belleville, where I currently reside, I have lived in seven towns/cities. I am a hick, born in Cochrane, Ontario. My mother more or less fled from that forsaken town; rose against the odds and made something of herself. In a way, so did I.

All through grade school I had a learning disability and was diagnosed with ADHD. A large group of peers these days claim to have ADD; the difference, hyperactivity. “Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder;” my burden, my advantage. Declining grades, low test scores, rebelliousness and an ample amount of fighting!

The fighting never stopped! Twenty three suspensions from grade seven, through to and including grade nine. My parents, at one point, contemplated enrolling me into martial arts to teach me discipline. They also contemplated enrolling me into military school. I should have taken the first offer. However, as the years passed I learned to control my anger, over-come my learning disability and use ADHD to my advantage.

Probably due to the fact that I had ADHD, I went through a lot of part time jobs over the years. I would land a job, with ease, get bored after a mere six to eight months and quit. As a result, I barely ever made over minimum wage and I have had over fifteen part time jobs.

That was until grade eleven when I landed a job at Swiss Chalet. The manager, my ex-neighbour and ex-girlfriend’s mother handed me the job. She thought I was a good kid I guess. I started at the bar; three nights a week for three hours at a time. The money was tight, not that I needed it living at home, so when I asked for more hours I was trained as a server.

To make a long story short, from there I was offered a job at Gallantry’s Eatery working thirty hours a week while in school. The “H” in ADHD helped out a ton. I was the fastest, most efficient server there and, for the most part, could handle the most tables. I made roughly eight dollars an hour but when you included tips it was more like twenty five dollars an hour.

I love serving. Serving jobs are the only part time jobs that I care to work. For the past four years, I have worked nothing but serving and tutoring jobs; I know it may not seem like it but I am an English tutor at Loyalist College.

Which brings me to the next part of my life; my education at Loyalist College!

PS. This post is about as personal as it's going to get. I am not going to go into relationships, dating, love or lack there of. Do I sound like an "Emo Kid" to you?

PPS. That kid in the picture...not me!
